EPO is proud to have joined the EU Platform on Animal Welfare in 2025, reinforcing its strong commitment to high animal welfare standards across the pet sector.

Established by the European Commission in 2017, the Platform serves as a key multi-stakeholder forum at EU level. It brings together Member State authorities, businesses, civil society organisations, and scientific experts to strengthen cooperation on animal welfare. The Platform works to improve the implementation of EU animal welfare legislation, facilitate the exchange of best practices, encourage voluntary commitments by businesses, and promote EU animal welfare standards globally.

Animal welfare lies at the heart of EPO’s mission. Together with its members, EPO is committed to promoting responsible ownership, ensuring high welfare standards throughout the sector, and upholding the principles of the EPO Charter.

By joining the Platform, EPO further strengthens its engagement in EU-level discussions and contributes constructively to advancing animal welfare standards across Europe and beyond.
